May 2025 Volunteer of the Month - Stacey Mays
Please join us in saying a giant thank you to Stacey and her family, our May volunteers of the month. Here is a bit about Stacey, in her own words:
Growing up in a household with cats, I always adored and wanted to have dogs, as well. However, due to my father's allergies, this was not possible. As a result, I made it my first priority to adopt a dog once I moved out.
Upon gaining independence, I immediately visited the local shelter and adopted a dog, which marked the beginning of my journey as a dog owner. Over time, my household has expanded to include four dogs and two cats.
My passion for animals has always been unwavering, and I find them irresistible; my heart can't say no. This innate compassion has led me to explore animal fostering, which offers the unique opportunity to provide care and support for mistreated or neglected animals.
Witnessing the growth and confidence of these animals as they settle into a safe environment is truly rewarding. Fostering animals can be a profoundly enriching experience, offering valuable lessons for individuals and families alike. My husband has been consistently
supportive of our fostering endeavors, while our eight-year-old son has gained invaluable insights into the responsibilities and joys of caring for animals. As a family, we strive to promote awareness about animal rescue/fostering and the transformative experiences that come with it.
